Name About
Adam Czarny Younger brother of James who was our regular fill-in player.
Alex Tait The first time we saw Alex we thought 'how good could this kid be?' Then we found out that he had no background in the game and was pretty much a natural so it was an impressive beginning. What's more is he is fairly young so he can be anything.
B Scott
Ben Rabjohns First year player making the long trek from Goulburn each week.
Brad Armstrong Also from Goulburn. Brad has been a great inclusion in the team and can become a very handy player.
Brendon McGee Brother of Shane and like Adam Czarny, another of our fill-in players for the season.
Caleb Bateman Our rugged Full Back and sometime Ruckman. While having better developed skills at this age than some of his teammates, Caleb has to work just as hard on the mobility skills.
Chris Streetfield Capped off a hard year by becoming more involved in the last few games where by then he had improved his confidence and understanding. Kicking is a bit of a worry for Chris. We know he will be heading North for 2002 so good luck in your new club Chris.
Damien Parrello Another first season player for the Jets and also for himself in Australian Football. Basically went through the entire year with only a handful of possessions against his name but each week saw Damien turn up so well done mate.
Daniel Bateman Caleb's brother who also filled in when needed. Look for him over the next few years...
Daniel Ginnan First time player to the game and a credit to himself in sticking at it. While ungainly and uncoordinated, Daniel has a heart as big as his misbehavior level and lots of niggle that annoys the opposition no end.
Gareth Reid Gareth is a guy that can do better, should do better and knows enough about the game to be better. If you take yourself more seriously you will do better.
Graham Collett Unfortunately Graham was only able to manage a couple of games before his age disallowed him to continue. A new player to the game he was doing ok too and in doing so he wasn't upsetting any opposition teams so it was disappointing to lose him because of the rules.
Greg Legge Captain courageous for us. It seemed that we'd be nothing without Greg's presence on the field and when he busted a wrist in the middle of the year it also seemed we'd soon find out. However two wonderful things occurred. Firstly, the team coped and without Greg a couple of other players rose to the occasion and secondly, Greg showed what true commitment was by continuing to present himself at trainings and on Saturdays.
Jake Housley One of the more knowledgeable of the team and showed he has the skills to be quite a sought after player in the future. Can burrow in and work hard in the packs for the hard ball but just needs more work on his disposal skills as well as his positioning around the ground. Not a very fast player, Jake will become effective by being fast in the mind so watch out for him.
James Czarny James has made the switch to Rules with immediate success and is one of the more eager players. A devastating tackler for his age which with that skill firmly embedded, he will become more effective as he picks up the other skills.
Lance Arundel Lance is one of these players who can be very good and go on to play this game quite easily but needs more passion for the game to do it. In that he needs to make a decision that says he will have a dip and get better or continue to make excuses for why he doesn't. We've learned that Lance is to turn out for Belconnen in 2002 so good luck there and do yourself a favour and put the head down and bum up!
Laurence Kelson Interesting year from Laurence. Another first timer but he came to us after suffering crook ankles so we had to nurse him along. However, he took a liking to the game and getting in for the hard ball although rarely coming out with it. The really important aspect from Laurence's year was he kept at it so we'll be expecting some improvement next year.
Marcel Saab
Mark Ruecroft Mark also turned up for his first year of Rules. It was pleasing to see him stay for the season, attend the training and be a part of this team. Mark is unlikely to be considered a serious prospect as a Rules player until he learns to run better and works on his coordination - but he has shown that when he puts his mind to it he can make an improvement so let's hope we continue to see him around the club.
Michael Baker Probably our most knowledgeable about the game from the perspective of actual years of playing and having come from Victoria where you'd expect that. Michael was a pleasure to coach and gave his all in every game (and probably more than enough in others). The difficulty Michael had each game was a mind going quicker than the legs and generally quicker than the players around him so he was often two steps ahead of the teammates with decisions. Unfortunately we know we will lose Michael overseas in 2002 so we wish him well and hope he can get a run where-ever he ends up.
Shane Bartle A bit of a late starter to the season but more than a welcome addition to the club. Shane, like Alex Tait, seemed like a natural and continued to impress and improve as the season wore on. As one of the older players he also provided the drive and inspiration for the others and in nearly all cases was able to deliver. All in all a most encouraging year from Shane.
Shane Marion Shane is another of the new players at the club and is in the classic rover model. A fairly tenacious player for the ball when he ends up in a pack and doesn't take any backward steps as a few opposition players have found out. Shane has also copped his share of knocks without whingeing and once this year is over we might see him begin to blossom a bit. Well done Shane for the year.
Shane McGee Shane (Bobby) had a bit of an up and down season. He had a bit of difficulty in adopting to the game and copped a few knocks due to inexperience. Shane was always keen to learn and improve at training which was good but then had trouble in translating this into the game. However, his best game of the year was down in Tumut so although too late as far as home and away games in the competition were concerned, it was great to see him do well.
