As part of its strong commitment to junior football in Gungahlin, the Gungahlin Jets provide a focus for entry level learning through the Auskick program. While the nominal age for access to this program is around 5, 6 or 7, we'll accept any junior of a young age with a passion to learn. In 2009 the Auskick program will be coordinated by Leo Hasler 6255 0425 (H) 0409 446 522 (M). Registration for the Auskick program will commence at 10am on Sunday the 15th February. The program will commence on Sunday February 22nd at Amaroo Oval. Starting at 10.00am for about 90 minutes. If you have some anklebiters (boys and girls) who are looking for a kick and/or are ready to progress beyond annoying the dog or cat then feel free to contact us and we'll get in touch. The AFL has an Auskick site that you can go to and find out other more up-to-date things so try it out. The AFL also has a kids site - the AFL KidsZone, that is anklebiter friendly. The site is designed to allow the little people an opportunity to play around and get AFL news, participate in competitions, learn footy and generally enjoy themselves. AFL Auskick is designed to introduce children and their parents to the game of AFL football. It is program based on fun participation and learning rather than competition. The core elements to make a successful center (and one the Jets work hard to demonstrate) are-
The AFL has set the standard that requires that all successful AFL Auskick Centre adhere to the above criteria causing a happy and inviting atmosphere. The AFL expect that every time it receives feedback about a community Auskick Centre that feedback will recognise the core elements listed above. If you are happy about the efforts of our club in providing an Auskick environment then please don't keep it to yourself but let the AFL know as well.

SESSION
DATES
|
|
The Jets Auskick Program in the Gungahlin area is run during terms 1, 2 and 3 of the school year and is conducted in two blocks:
This leaves enough time for any child, that is interested, to go on and play for the under 8's or older. It would be good to see the kids that are confident enough have a go at junior footy. The games played in the under 8's, u9's, u10's & u11's are similar to games played at the end of each Auskick sessions (Modified Rules). To see the rules for these grades then please see our Junior Footy Rules page. The Auskick registration fee is an AFL based fee separate from the Junior Jets (ie, we do not get that fee), however, if your child wishes to move up to the junior club it will cost approximately $30 to cover the games remaining and the cost of the club shorts and socks. Please talk to us anyway if in doubt. We are trying to ensure you do not pay anymore than what the club registration would have cost. You are more than welcome to come along and try it before making a commitment for the Auskick and also the Junior footy.

VENUE
AND TIMING
|
|
Auskick is held at
Amaroo playing fields off Burdekin Avenue or Katherine Avenue (at the
back of the Amaroo Primary and Good Shepherd Primary Schools), Sunday
mornings from 10.00am to 11.30am. |
|
WET
WEATHER
|
| Unless it is raining at the time, or the ground is in an unfit state due to poor weather during the week, the session will go ahead as usual. A decision on the state of the ground will not be made until the Sunday morning (unless the grounds are closed for all sporting fixtures, which you would hear about on the radio). If you are in doubt you can turn up - there will always be someone at the ground to let you know if the session is going ahead or not, or contact Leo Hasler. |
