The Gungahlin Jets Coaching Academy is a centre of training and development excellence for all coaches of the Jets Junior Club. The Academy provides support to coaches by coaching peers, and establishes an environment where coaches can learn and develop coaching skills for the benefit of every player in the Club. Coaches selected to coach a Jets team are expected to participate in the Coaching Academy so that the Club can develop a positive coaching culture, so that parents can choose the Club with confidence in knowing that the coaches are undergoing continual training and development and to provide a mechanism to ensure that all stakeholders are adequately supported. The Academy meets on a monthly basis throughout the season and the sessions are conducted in a number of ways:

The Academy program for 2008 will run from February to August, with a final wrap up and evaluation held in September, prior to the Jets Presentation Day. The following dates have been proposed for 2008:
Each session will focus on a particular theme of coaching or coach education, and coaches are encouraged to provide feedback on skills or knowledge required. |

Lets not forget that a well-planned effective program leads to greater enjoyment in our game and therefore greater likelihood for long term retention at the Club and our game. A coaching curriculum is not a new concept. This initiative has been developed and implemented by other progressive clubs, it is present in the TAC Cup program, and it is present at some school football programs.
