Be sure to check the Events page out for latest activities. Coaches Coaches for 2008 are: Under 16's Clubstart Information about ClubStart (Under 8/9) in the form of a Frequently Asked Questions document can be downloaded <here>. Junior League Draw and Season Start/End Times The full league draw will be located via the website: www.sportingpulse.com.au The draw for all Junior Jets teams will be located in their webpage and we recommend checking it out now and again for changes that the Junior League make. The League Ladders should also be located here. However, hold off on checking for this info until it has been confirmed. Start and end times for the season are further down in the Junior League Jottings. Training Times at Amaroo Oval The following are not totally set in concrete so keep an eye out for an update to the following: U8's and U9's - train an hour before they play on the Saturday - no change
here. Injuries We've had a couple of kids break bones and with the other odd bumps and bruises that generally (rarely) occur it's timely to remind everyone that we have an Injury Management page with information about what to do. There is also information on making a claim should it be necessary. To assist with injuries as they occur, the Junior Jets are seeking volunteer parents to be trained in first aid, sports injuries and/or sports medicine etc. We will facilitate this and it will not cost you for training. If you already have these qualifications then We Want You!! Team Photos A booking with the Portrait Gallery has been made for team photos on
TBA starting at 9:00AM at the Gungahlin Lakes Club, Gundaroo Drive. All
players should be dressed in full uniform including footy socks and boots.
The cost of the photos has been included in the annual registration fee.
Timings for individual teams are as follows: Viewing Draws and Match Reports Our approach for team draws and match reports is to go straight to the team page for the particular team/grade you are looking for. From there you can follow the links to items relating to that team. Basically each team will have its own "home-page" for items in general about how they are going. Please use the navigation bar in the left frame to get to where you need. Email address Our email is jetsjuniors@jetsafc.com.au If you would like to be involved with this club then please contact the club Secretary via our email or just drop us a line if you need to have a question or two answered. Rego Fees Registration fees have
been set by the committee. If you are likely to have trouble with the
registration payment then we are happy to discuss arrangements. Please
check our Registration
page for information. Committee Meetings Our meetings are scheduled for the first Sunday of each month and are held in the Boardroom of The Lakes. They start at 3pm (Sun) and last for a couple of hours - unless we get sidetracked? Home Ground Our home ground is at Amaroo playing fields behind the Amaroo Primary and High schools, located off Horse Park Drive. Boot Pool We have a boot pool suitable for all ages so see if there is a spare pair there before you go off and purchase a new pair. Also, we would appreciate any old boots that the kids have outgrown if you have no one to hand them on to. Need to know more about the rules and terms of the game? Rules can be browsed for Auskick/Aussie Footy or Competion/Senior levels. Ever wonder what those who know about the game are actually saying? Do you wish you could conduct a discussion with another parent or your child and sound like you know what you are talking about? Well, you need to go to our Footy Glossary page and start reading...... If there is a term you've heard and it is not in this page then please let us know.

Please go to the Committee page to see who the current position holders are for 2007. Soon we'll have details of what our committee roles require. If you are contemplating becoming a committee member then you should have enough information to provide an overview. We are always looking for more people to assist us by joining the committee.
The more we have then the more we can share the tasks around so it really
doesn't become too hard. You can join the committee at any stage. |

Mouth-Guards We wish to advise all parents that the club has a mouthguard policy whereby all players must wear one. We are aware of suitable mouthguards that can be obtained at most local chemists at a reasonable price. For instance one was purchased by a member for $7.95, but we have heard prices vary from place to place. Players in the near future will find that they will not be able to play if they do not have one. This has been done with the safety of your child in mind. Pick Ups After Training We will continue to remind parents that the club requires you to be there to pick your children up at the completion of any training we conduct. Generally this has been good but there have been occasions where a coach has had to stay with children up to 30 - 40 minutes after training and on some occasions actually drop kids home. With the colder weather coming and long hours volunteered by our hard working coaches and officials we would like to see everybody safely gone by no more than 15 minutes after training has finished. Wet Weather Policy To be determined. Injury Management Officer Nicole joins our midst to help with the injury prevention/management attention we have badly missed. If you wish to become better acquainted with first aid, sports training etc then get in touch and we'll sick Nicole onto you (yes that was a bad joke...) The club is still looking to appoint a first aid officer from the parents of each team. If you are interested in being this person (first preference will go to somebody who currently holds a first aid certificate), but otherwise the club will pay for 1 - 2 people per team to undertake appropriate first aid instruction. However if you are to be this person you will be relied on to be present at all games (or as many as possible) of your team. The club hopes that you will not have to ever do more than use some magic spray, but, in the best interests of all, if an injury occurs we are in an appropriate position to address the situation. Again don't be shy just talk to your Team Manager or contact us so we can have Nicole facilitate. The club will source a suitable course and make the booking based on numbers and availability. If you are interested in learning sports first aid then check out the
following site: www.smartplay.com.au
for registration forms. Otherwise courses are being run here in the ACT
in 2008 (schedule here soon

The AFL (NSW/ACT) Commission website is now live. Please go to www.aflnswact.com.au to have a look. It is gradually getting more and more league details so eventually something on the ACT may surface. Information about the Junior League draw and results is obtainable in the following website: www.sportingpulse.com.au just bear in mind that the draw may not be accurate. At least for Junior Jets games we try to have the draw for our games as accurate as possible. For those wishing to see the entire JL draw, we'll put it here when it is available. 2008 Season Times The season is set to kick-off on:
Operations Manager - Juniors The AFL Canberra Junior Football Operations Manager is Tamarah Knox who can be contacted on 6228 0335, 0421 768 663 or via e-mail tamarah.knox@aflact.com.au. Overage and Underage Policy Overage - For details on the Overage policy please click on the link. Underage - For details on the Underage policy please click on the link. ClubStart ClubStart this season will again see the under 8's and the under 9's included. The 2008 approach is still being determined but it will still have both 8/9's play at the same ground. With about 5 clubs involved on the North side it will mean about 3 times each that a club gets to host games. This may make the afternoon rather long but it will really create a great atmosphere for everyone. It is likely the Southside teams will again be involved in one or two gala day events where all clubs in the region come together. League Sponsor The League's major sponsor is ACTEWAGL and Milk. Umpires The League is always on the lookout for umpires. From u8's through to the competition level teams people are desperately needed to be whistle-blowers. Experience is not necessary however, ex-players (even teenagers) are encouraged to give have a go at umpiring. For more information then please look at our Umpiring page. JL Merger (background for those unaware) The JL eventually agreed to a merger proposition with AFL Canberra Pty Ltd in 2004. A meeting was held on the 27th October 2004 at Manuka and the following motion was put to those present and unanimously accepted: "In principle the ACTAFJL move that the ACT Australian Football Junior League Incorporated (ACTAFJL) be restructured and become a part of AFL Canberra Pty Ltd in accordance with the negotiations that have been conducted during 2003 and the following principles:
a subcommittee consisting of the ACTAFJL President, AFL Canberra Chairman, Regional Manager, AFL Canberra General Manager, a Life Member and ACTAFJL Administrator is appointed to oversight the merger. The ACTAFJL President and AFL Canberra Chairman may appoint nominees to represent them on this subcommittee". A couple of decisions since the merger occurred have left some wondering whether the JL Executive and Directors (re club Presidents) have a role anymore...... General TACKLING - For any parents that may not be aware (and it seems many are), there is a tackling policy in place for all grades below the competition levels (U/12's). This essentially means there is NONE to LIMITED. Please have a look at the RULES for the juniors for more information. The Australian Football League has its AFL
KidsZone, a new website for children aged between five and 12. |
