JETSWEB - Information for Members and Guests of the Gungahlin JETS AFC.

The JETS have been part of the Amateur Australian Football Competition in Canberra since 1982. Over that time the club has won five Premierships, and has grown to a club with over 450 members, two Senior teams, six Junior teams, and over 60 kids playing AUSKICK. The JETS have been part of the Gungahlin Community since 1996 and continue to grow in the region. The club's short-term goal is to dominate the ACTAFL Canberra District Competition, with an ultimate goal of entering teams in the ACTAFL's Premier Competition.

JETS 2007 Coaching Staff

The JETS are pleased to announce their newly-signed coaching staff for the 2007 season:

Andrew Kouvaras
Div 1 Coach

Marc Housley
Div 2 Coach
Jason Burgess
Director of Coaching

Division 1 Coach - Andrew Kouvaras

In his first attempt at coaching Andrew couldn't have asked for a better season, guiding the JETS to their maiden Division 1 Premiership, something the club had been working towards since entering the Division 1 competition in 1991. Andrew's previous football experience in Victoria, and more recently at Ainslie clearly showed and he used that experience to prepare the squad extremely well for the 2006 season. The hard work paid-off as the JETS won only their second Division 1 Minor-Premiership and then went on to win the Grand Final against ANU. Andrew showed his leadership by winning the Best-on-Ground in that Grand Final, then backed it up by winning the AFL Canberra Division 1 Best and Fairest, and the JETS Best and Fairest.

We would like to welcome Andrew back for the 2007 season and will be aiming for continued success under his guidance.

Division 2 Coach - Marc Housley

Marc returns as the Magoos coach after his "baptism of fire" in 2006. Having coached at higher levels in the Canberra competitions, Marc's experience and leadership has been a tremendous boost to our younger players coming through. Something Marc has not been used to is a lack of players to draw from, but he managed this aspect of coaching the Magoos extremely well, ensuring we had the best squad on the paddock each week, and almost always a full squad.

The Magoos improved on their 2005 effort, finishing just outside the four in 2006 which is no surprise given the effort put in by Marc. The goal for Marc and the club is to ensure the Magoos are playing finals football in 2007 and one thing is for certain, Marc will be doing everything possible to ensure that goal is reached.

Marc also demonstrated his on-field leadership, winning the JETS Best and Fairest, Player's Player and Leading Goal Kicker awards.

We welcome Marc back as Magoos coach for the 2007 season.

Director of Coaching - Jason Burgess

Jason will return to the JETS for the 2007 season after previously coaching the JETS in 2003 where we competed in the 2003 AFL Canberra Division 1 Grand Final. Since then Jason has gained tremendous experience coaching the Ainslie Premier Division Reserves for the last three years, winning two Premierships along the way.

Jason's experience will be a huge boost to our coaching department, providing a valuable support/mentoring role. In addition, Jason hopes to play which will provide us with added on-field experience and leadership. We welcome Jason back into the JETS fold, and look forward to his input over the coming season.
