- Information for Members and Guests of the Gungahlin
JETS AFC.
The JETS have been part of the Amateur Australian Football
Competition in Canberra since 1982. Over that time the
club has won seven Premierships, and has grown to a club
with over 450 members, three Senior teams, including a women's team, six Junior
teams, and over 60 kids playing AUSKICK. The JETS have
been part of the Gungahlin Community since 1996 and
continue to grow in the region. The club's short-term
goal is to dominate the ACTAFL Canberra District Competition,
with an ultimate goal of entering teams in the ACTAFL's
Premier Competition. |

2007
- It was another amazing year for
the mighty JETS as they improved on their 2006 efforts by easily
winning the 2007 Division 1 AFL Canberra Premiership with a 63-point
victory over ANU. The Magoos showed great improvement by claiming
the Minor Premiership - a first for the club since entering two
teams. Unfortunately the Magoos bowed out of the finals with consecutive
losses but the experience they gained will prove valuable in future
seasons. Andrew Kouvaras and Marc Housley did a great job again
in coaching their Div 1 and Div 2 teams respectively, and enjoyed
tremendous commitment from their player, and great support from
the JETS club and its supporters. Andrew Kouvaras ended his coaching
term with a perfect record of two Premierships, two League Best
and Fairests and two club Best and Fairests in his two seasons
at the helm. Rod Wheatley, the longest serving player in 2007
earnt just rewards for a great season by easily winning the Div
2 club Best and Fairest, and the Players Player awards, and Andrew
Kouvaras' efforts were recognised by being awarded the JET of
the Year.

To date the JETS continue
to grow as a strong club. With over 60 kids playing AUSKICK, 150
kids playing Junior footy and 70 plus on the Senior list, club
membership including supporters stands at well over 600. Considering
Gungahlin is one of the fastest growing regions in Australia,
the club stands to enjoy continued success for many years to come.
