- Information for Members and Guests of the Gungahlin
JETS AFC.
The JETS have been part of the Amatuer Australian Football
Competition in Canberra since 1982. Over that time the
club has won seven Premierships, and has grown to a club
with over 450 members, three Senior teams, including a women's team, six Junior
teams, and over 60 kids playing AUSKICK. The JETS have
been part of the Gungahlin Community since 1996 and
continue to grow in the region. The club's short-term
goal is to dominate the ACTAFL Canberra Disctrict Competition,
with an ultimate goal of entering teams in the ACTAFL's
Premier Competition. |

1988
- added another Premiership to take the club's total
to three. The JETS finished second for the season after losing
only three games. The JETS flogged the Minor Premiers, West Canberra
in the Major Semi by 16 goals and eventually beat ANU to make
it back-to-back Premierships. Kelvin Ryan, who passed away later
that year was named Best on Ground. He is sadly missed by everyone.
1989
- will ong be remembered
by all involved as we finished Minor Premiers and completed our
hat trick of Premierships, taking the club's tally to four. The
effort to win the Grand Final was outstanding given our five-goal
half time deficit, but the JETS bounced back in the second half
to overrun an astonished ANU to win by 3 goals. During the season
Matt Blythe became the first JET to reach 100 games for the club.

1990
- presented another challenging
year. Ken Zimmer remained as coach and we finished the home and
away season with another Minor Premiership. The second Semi against
Ainslie was marred by several heavy clashes, leaving two JETS
players hospitalised. Although we won the match, Ainslie had set
up a winning advantage goinig into the Grand Final and won by
21 points.
